Sooooo Close....

Wanna see a lil piece of heaven? Here's my happy place:

Yeah, I love sleep. So I'm gonna go practice some more before my big test. Night!

Weirdos

Those last couple of comments were slightly disturbing.

Warning: the following excerpt from the daily life of Erin contains some questionably nerdy material. Unsuitable for anyone who isn't in touch with their inner nerd.

So, I had a meeting with my Japanese Society group today (I'll have another one later tonight). Anywho, we met in one of the group study rooms in the library. Usually we go into one of the downstairs ones, but this time they were all full, so we chose an upstairs room. The thing is, these rooms have no windows. So I commented that it felt like an interrogation room (no windows, white stone walls, a circular table with four chairs around it). Then I noticed there was writing on the walls, equations written in pencil. I pointed it out to my teammates...I mean it really looked like someone had been trapped in there a long time! So one of my team members, reading an equation off of the wall, said (dead-panned), "I have been here square root of x equals 2 minus x days now. I can't take it anymore." Man oh man, I cracked up.

Ok, maybe you ahd to be there. But it was funny. You should have heard him say it. My oh my. Ok, nerd story over. There were other funnies, but I shall spare you the gory details. Time to do some major work. I get off for break in 2 times 10 to the negative 18 times x equals 5 times e to the natural log of 2 times 10 to the negative 18 days. Really.

Testing, testing...

Snap.

Never mind.
Ok, so apparently I can add pictures. Just not the ones I want. These are random pics of Homecoming night with my vball girls in our new warm-ups. That is our traditional bonfire with an outhouse on top. If the outhouse falls through the middle, we will win the football game. If it falls off the edge, however, we will lose. Yeah, it definitely burned up and disintegrated before the platform it was on could burn up. We were left with a slightly ambiguous feeling as to the outcome of the game.

Alright, if I ever figure out how to do what I really wanted to show you, I'll let y'all know.

Peace.

"Good Morning, Turnaround!"

Woooooww. That came outta nowhere! I could hear the warbly little voice and everything. And he turned around, too. ;)

Soo....this week will be a long one. I have only one test this week, but three the next Monday and Tuesday, right before I get off for break. I really don't feel like studying yet. It seems like I just did that for finals. But I need to get off an a better foot than I did last quarter.

I have a Learning Center holiday party tomorrow as well as another intramural bball game. Woohoo! Maybe we will win this time. We played NSBE last time (National Society of Black Engineers) and we almost won! We only lost by 9 points and were almost tied at one point. We'll get somebody this year, hopefully.

Emily suggested that I put my Working Model and stuff that I am excited about on here...I am not sure how but I will try. Haha, Luke, you may have to show me how to do that. Especially since Working Model is an animated program.

Here goes nothing...

And nothing...

And sorry.

Here's an image of the animation. You can imagine the rest :~D

False. You will have to imagine it all. Because I cannot get images to upload. Period. Gaah!

"The best laid schemes o’ mice an’ men...

...Gang aft a-gley.” In case you didn't know, that's the original form of the saying we adapted from Robert Burns' poem "To a Mouse". Haha, I just liked the ending. It's much cooler than "often go awry". Why don't we talk like that? It would be fun!

Anyways, so here's the story...I didn't go to St. Louis this weekend. Nope, I'm here in my dorm room. Dan and Emily basically got snowed in up in GR, so I decided not to go (the rest of the people going were a bunch of goobers anyway). Well, I definitely didn't know them well enough to feel comfortable going alone with them. Make sense?

It was quite the bummer, but I am getting over it now. It was much worse when I first heard they couldn't come. Actually, I can look on the bright side: I am going to get ahead on my homework as long as I apply myself this weekend.

Good wishes and best of luck to all who are taking finals this upcoming week, including my sister Betsey and all of her Grace buddies. And to my sister Emily...CONGRATULATIONS!!!! You are DONE forEVER and you did soooooo great!! Also, I am not mad and am no longer devastated that you couldn't come. So don't worry about it.

St. Louis

Here we come! Emily, Dan, Dan's friend, and I are heading down to the St. Louis area tomorrow to explore, see a Blues game, and take a tour of Anheuser Busch. That's part of the package deal; we're really not heading down there just to see that. ;)

I did all my SWE stuff; it was fun, especially the lab. I really liked being able to show the girls how to work with some of the materials. I think a couple of them knew more than me, but there are always the smarties, ya know?

Got my homework done, miracle of miracles. :) I am sooooo glad it is the weekend!

Guess what, y'all? Once my check gets cashed, I am an official member of AIAA, or American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Rose is starting a chapter on campus, and I will be in the original group! It is exciting and fun and offers design competitions, a few scholarships, and connections for career opportunities in the future.

Alrighty, that about sums it up for now. I am a busy girl these days, which is good; I'm just attempting to fit sleep into the schedule a little more. I'll figger it out. Take care of yourselves out there; the snow's B E A yootiful, but it's kinda slick.

Dashing Through the Snow...

ON A ONE HORSE OPEN SLEEEEEIGH!!! O'ER THE FIELDS WE GO...LAUGHING ALL THE WAY (HAHAHA)!!!!

Ooh, what a great song!! Guys, I am absolutely giddy! And I don't know why, because I have a ginormic, hugantic homework assignment due tomorrow and a few smaller ones. But there is joy, joy, joy, joy, down in my heart! Wow, these songs are just bursting outta me.

It is snowing down here! "Walkin' in a winter wonderland!!" It's so pretty! Aah, it's a gorgeous day.

I have to go in about fifteen minutes to get ready for my SWE WEE girls to come (Society of Women Engineers, Women Exploring Engineering). It's that weekend, so I am registering them and then tomorrow I am working an electrical engineering lab in the AM. It's going to be fun! But between now and tomorrow at 2:30, I need to get seven Msys problems, two EChem problems, and a Fluids problem done. Good thing I'm done reading for JS and I got my DE assignment done two days early! Yikes.

I'm off...shoulda brought ski's down with me. 'Cept I don't own any. Off I go!

Twelve Days

Of classes. Three days of glorious weekends. And then I am home for break!!! Woot!

Ok, now isn't this stupid? I get off on a TUESDAY and come back on a TUESDAY. Grrr. Just give us three weeks off for break. That would make everything easier, plus it is more free time for me. I wouldn't complain.

So...I tried to start the car yesterday. At first it started, but then I backed a foot or two out of the parking space and it died. I tried to restart it, and it definitely was cranking, but it wouldn't catch and start. I even tried the gas pedal thing and managed to flood the engine. I think that is what happened, anyways, because I went in to get help and Bryan came out with me and the car started right up for him. But here's the bad news. As we were going back out to the car, I slipped on a patch of ice and keyed the car next to mine. Woohoo, ain't that just what the Rumley's needed right now? Anywho, I left a message on the car's windshield wipers. Hopefully nothing will come of it. The car wasn't super nice and the scratch was tiny. Still...arrrggg!!

Church tomorrow and a little bit of homework; but I am SO going shopping if the weather isn't too bad. I need to get some more Christmas gifts. And I need to workout (not connected with the shopping, unless of course you are speedwalking the mall with Emily).

Just watched Iron Chef. Oh man that show makes me hungry. Except for the raw trout ice cream. That sounded pretty disgusting. But it looked good. I'm practically an Iron Chef now myself. I have a pan!! I definitely cooked my first pizza today. Couldn't use my pan though. :(

"It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!"

Fluids and Thermals

Good news! Apparently, my fluids professor (Sanders) is in Japan currently. Haha, I don't know, did he forget he had a class to teach?? Anyways, Fine came in while we were waiting to start class and said, "Surprise! Your professor is in Japan right now. He asked me to inform you all and come pass out the syllabus and he would get you caught up when he got back. I guess that means he doesn't want me to teach you anything, although I wouldn't mind giving it a try. So don't come back on Wednesday, because nobody will be here. After you get your handouts, you can disperse." Or something like that. WOOHOO!!!! That put me in a good mood, even if it does mean we will have to play catch-up when Sanders gets back on Friday. We are technically only missing 2 classes and we still have lab tomorrow, so it's not that much of a break. Still, I'll take what I can get.

After a Brief Hiatus...

I am back at Rose. Time for a new quarter! This one has no mistakes in it yet...no massive tests or homework assignments looming on the horizon...no incompetent profs rambling my money away...it's all fresh and new! I intend to take advantage of that. I want to be on the ball right away. I think I kinda sorta (knock on wood) have this college thing figured out. Scholastically, anyway.

I had a great time at home! Got to: enjoy a 12 hour LOTR marathon with good buddies; gorge on insane amounts of food; see each and every member of my immediate family and some of the extended; host an awful PCS party that will not be repeated; go shopping at 4:30 in the morning on the day after Thanksgiving...we got great doorbuster sales!; go to my church and have a GREAT college class (love Dick Bucher)!!! My break was amazing!

There, I have updated as per your requests.

Jeopardy

Answer: An amazing family.

Question: What does Erin have?

Yay, I get to go home and see my amazing family in just a few more hours! One Esys final and then I am out the door! Soooo excited!

Recent development: the van doors will not unlock from the outside with my key. The only exterior lock that works is the tailgate; that's right, folks. I am now reduced to climbing into my car from the tailgate and crawling over the seats to get to the front. I feel like Rocketman. And if you don't know what I am talking about, you should definitely go see that movie. "If Iiiiii were kiiiiiing of the foreeeeeeest!" Hahahaha...man oh man, wipe a tear from my eye, good times.

The waiting is one of the hardest parts. I just want to take my test RIGHT NOW!!!!

It's gonna be great!

Wednesday, November 16, 2005

Last One!

Tomorrow at 1 pm I have my last final (Esys), and one of the two that really counts. Wahoo, right?

I will be home soooo soon, but I can't think about that right now. Gotta concentrate. Later y'all.

What Happened To My Font?

Grr. Oh well. Guess that post will have to stay like that cuz I can't fix it.

DE final today. Esys final tomorrow. And then I'm OUTTA here!!! Yay for a break, yikes, this quarter was somethin' else, lemme tell ya.

Tuesday, November 15, 2005

I Feel Like I Just Won a Grammy.

Or Emmy. Or Oscar. Whatever. Don't know the difference.

The point is, I feel like I should be giving this big "I'd like to thank all the people who helped me get this far..." speech. Cuz you see...

I COMPLETELY ROCKED MY CON APPS FINAL!!!!

Yaaay! Seriously, thanks for everybody who said they were praying and for those of you who encouraged me...it really paid off! Of course, I don't have the test back yet, but I am expecting the miraculous here...I felt really good after I turned it in. Break is SO close, thank goodness!

Monday, November 14, 2005

Alright, before I get off on another crazy studying kick, here is a HIlarious quote I discovered today on a friend's Facebook:

"Some people are like slinkies, not really useful for much but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs."

Hahahahahaha...!!

Sunday, November 13, 2005

I Won...

An Applebee's gift certificate! For $10. Yay!

Now I am going to go study my patootie off. With a break here and there to eat. See y'all later!

Friday, November 11, 2005

"I Don't Want a Large Farva...

I want a gosh darn literacola!!"

"But I don't know what that is!"

I Won a Raffle, I Won a Raffle!

I never win these things! Yay! It was an LC raffle...honestly I don't even remember putting my name in the pot, but hey, I won something! I am going to go claim my prize...I'm on pins and needles! What did I win?

Then I shall:
1) pack the van with dirty laundry that is about sky-high right now
2) pack my study essentials...yikes, finals are closing in on me!
3) get the show on the road!!

Going Home!!!

In...3 and a half hours!

One more class for the quarter. Crazy! I am almost done.

Yaaaay!

Happy birthday, Grace!

I Got It Right, I Got It Right, I Got It Right Hey Hey Hey Hey!

Just a lil announcement...I GOT A CON APPS PROBLEM RIGHT...IN CLASS!!!! Usually when he passes out those example problems, I kinda stare blankly at the paper and hope the numbers will magically appear, but not today, folks!! He asked who had calculated a numerical result and I offered my answer (I actually GOT one) and it was RIGHT!!!

Ok, I'm excited. Gonna work on some more fun con apps problems before Esys and DE reviews tonight. Bye all!

Great Green Gobs of Greasy-Grimy Gopher Guts...Mutilated Monkey Meat...Little Birdies' Dirty Feet...Great Green Gobs of Greasy-Grimy Gopher Guts, and

I forgot my spoon!!!! The title wouldn't let me finish the song. Apparently it can only be so long.

Lord, give me the will to work until I can't go on any longer...then lend me your strength so I can continue past the breaking point.

These few days are going to be jam-packed with studying. In fact, I should be studying right now. But my little head can only take so much; hence the prayer. Two review sessions tonight (DE and Esys), which will be all the non-con-apps studying I will be doing before the con apps final, I believe. Then I will write a paper for Lit of War in between spurts of con-apps.

I am going home tomorrow! I will be back Sunday morning, but Friday night and all day Saturday are going to be WONDERFUL; I will see tons of family and get to celebrate my niece's first birthday. She is such a cutie! I can't wait to see how much she has grown and how much she has learned.

Alright, I have time to fit in 20 minutes of con apps before class, so I am going to go be productive. See you fine folks ohsosoon!!

Good Tidings We Bring

Love Christmas songs.

Keep up the studying suggestions, by the way. Anything at all would help me out a great deal.

So...story time. We had a recruit down at Rose for volleyball and Jess and I entertained her last night. Jess passed out Capri Sun's to us and we sat and talked while we drank them. Jess kept insisting her's tasted funny; she has them all the time, and she said her's was weird...but Brittany's and mine tasted fine and we finished ours really fast, so we told Jess she was crazy.

She let hers sit their forever, and finally I told her to let me try it. Ok, folks, I could get like two drops out of it. That's it. I sucked at it as hard as I could, and I couldn't get it to some out. Jess said to blow in it and I tried, but that didn't even work. So Jess took it back (it hadn't done this for her) and pulled the straw out and started screaming.

Brittany and I hadn't seen anything, but Jess was hysterical, saying there was something in there and asking if we had seen it. She kept saying, "I told you it tasted funny!" We took it to the sink and cut it open. Jess couldn't look, she said she was going to be sick, so I poured it out in the sink.

Yup, it was nasty. It turned my stomach. Brittany thought it was gum, but she wasn't poking at it like I was. I swear it looked like a bug larva, still wrapped up in it's little skin thing. Uughh!! It also could have been a type of mold, but I really don't think it was. We were grossed out by that for sure. Yuck!! And I was trying so hard to suck it up through that little straw...imagine if I had succeeded!

On a happier note, tonight Jess and I went to my literature of war film festival (4 obscure war movies showing at the same time). We chose Battleground, an old black and white film about World War II; and we watched it with a WWII veteran!! It was so cool! Not only was it a good movie, but we got to hear first-hand experiences from the old man throughout the movie. I would recommend watching that movie if you get the chance. It was very well done and was also hilarious at the same time that it was poignant and sad.

I have a meeting with my con apps professor and a lab tomorrow, as well as lots of homework, LC work, and a con apps review session. So I'm out.

Sigh.

If only your friends could see this "famous person" failing con apps. Stupid class.

I have to do super good on the final in that class. Have to. Or I won't pass. So I'm aiming for a 100. That way...ya know, "aim small, miss small" and all that jazz. I potentially have to get an 80 in order to pass the class...and so far I've not been able to reach that score on any of my other tests. Whoopee.

But failing is not an option. So. I will pass. No matter what.

I am trying to think of a way to best utilize the 3 hours of driving I will be doing this Friday and again on Saturday or Sunday. You see, that is a lot of hours in which to study con apps. I wonder if there is a way to record something onto a CD or tape and play it for those hours. Get it ingrained in my head.

I think working through problems by hand is probably a bad idea on the road. If anyone has any suggestions, let me know. That's a waste of a good 6 hours of study time!!

To-Do List

- winter IM captain's meeting at 8 pm
- con apps homework from 9-?
- maybe some DE from ?-?
- bed by 12
- tomorrow, classes and work from 8 am-12:40 pm
- lunch from 12:40-1
- getting packed and taking stuff down to the SRC from 1-2:30
- LEAVE FOR TENNESSEE at 2:30!!!!

Wahoo! The final weekend of the season...I am relieved right now; maybe later I will be sad. I know I will miss it in a week or two, but I welcome the break for now.

Hope everyone is having a splendid day!

Tennessee

We'll be bus'ing it down to Tennessee on Thursday for the final tournament of the season; the cross-divisional. As I have said before, I will not be coming back without a win. I mean it. No wins, no Erin.

And the world rejoiced..."yaaaaay". Haha, good movie.

My KT is sick. :( She is getting better slowly, but she has a cough that isn't going away very fast.

Think I am going shopping today...at Kroger's and Kmart, but shopping nonetheless. ;)

I love Wednesdays. i get to be a little lazy. But I gotta get ahead in con apps cuz we're leaving early this week. So I'll sign off. (going home in a week and a half...and then in another week!!)

It's the Big One....

Yup, third and final con apps test tomorrow. Until the final, that is. Yikes. This is the big one, folks. I gotsta do good on this. So I shall be studying my lil hind end off tonight. Gaah.

On a brighter note, Lit of War is going to see Jarhead sometime...in theaters! Free! I love that class. Soooo much. We are working on "The Basic Training of Pavlo Hummel" now. Wow, what a piece of work. It is a play with Pavlo as the main character. He is absolutely crazy, I tell you. It is a hilarious play...I laughed out loud several times while reading it. But it also has lots of profanity, so the reading out loud in class gets kind of interesting sometimes. The drill sergeant is probably the funniest character, although Kress is right up there. Anyways, if you want an interesting read, and a unique one, that would be one. The play itself I am sure is brilliant, but I am not sure I want to see some of the scenes acted out.

This week includes the con apps test, a captain's meeting for IM bball, and a tournament this weekend for which we have to leave at 2:30 on Thursday. That means zero classes for me on Friday...which could be a good or bad thing. BAD because I will be missing TWO con apps classes again (it starts at 2:30, so I will miss it Thursday and Friday); yet good because YAY I don't have to worry about class. Just gotta get my work done ahead of time.

Alrighty, time to finish the ole Esys homework and study like crazy for con apps.

In Ohio

Back on Saturday night (laaaate).

Wednesday, October 26, 2005

Here's the ole update.

I raked leaves today! It was awesome to be out in the fall weather and OFF campus! It was a SWE thing (Society of Women Engineers), and I am technically not in SWE, but they needed more girls to work it and, hey, I have the qualifications, so I offered. Jess and Katie Wolber and I all went...it was long but fun! We might be going back for finals week. We earned money for SWE, and maybe I'll figure out how to join SWE so that I can see how they spend said money.

We had another 6 AM practice today. Poopy farts. I hate morning practices! It went alright, I guess, but I forgot to put in my contacts and had to play in glasses. It's not easy to kill a ball when you're doing your full approach and your vision is shaking as your glasses bounce up and down. Haha. The joys of near-sightedness.

I might get my Esys exam back tomorrow! Yay, because I think I did really well.

I sat down and did some homework today (gasp) and got one of the con apps problems done ALL BY MYSELF. Round of applause. Now I only have three more to do. Due Friday. Along with my Lit of War paper.

We have a tourney this weekend and next weekend, so I will miss the performance of the play Jerikar is in (sad!!). I really like live theater, and it is fun to see people I know in it as well. Darn it, I'll miss all of the stinkin' performances!

Final review week, there is a war film festival that Jess and I will be going to, hosted by Dr. Williams, a super cool professor o' mine. It will be loads of fun and I am excited about it!

Oh, shocker, I actually did DE homework today! I am so on top of things today.

Ate a bar of chocolate by myself today. It was huge and creamy and so worth it. Oh man.

My roomie was sick today :( I had to go out and buy her some stomach stuff. Hope she feels better soon. Plus I REALLY don't want to be sick. Pleeeease!!! Alrighty, I am going to bed so I can get up early and be productive cuz I need to be.

It's All About Me

Well if you didn't want to hear about me, why did you come to my blog?????

Go here to see the star of the show!

Surprise!!

Guess who came down to see me today?? GR folks! Dan and Emily drove down to the Rumley house last night and then finished the drive to Depauw this morning to see one of my games! And we won! Just for them...

I was soooo excited and happy to see them there. They got to see me play lots and get some kills; not quite like the game Jaymi had to sit through...did you know Jaymi came to see me on Thursday? So Dan and Emily left after the first game...good thing too, cuz we lost soundly in that one.

So Jaymi and I had a GREAT time here Thursday night through Friday night. It was great to catch up on things with her and talk for hours and play pool...heh heh, or at least give it our best effort. It was like PCS all over again, since we managed to drag Kyle into our activities as well. Do your homework, kid!

I am not the night owl I was in high school and freshman year, lemme tell you. I go to bed by midnight almost every night if I can (I get up early, dang it). So Thursday night (up till 2) about killed me, haha! Someday I will get to sleep in...

See y'all later!

Bunyons

"Buns and onions, it's kind of appetizing if you don't think too hard." - Sookie

Hahahaha, gotta love Sookie. There were lots of outrageous lines in last night's episode.

And who knew you spelled it "Sookie"??? I always thought it was Sukie or something like that. Whoops.

I'm Sorry I Can't Be Perfect

"Well you need a blue sky holiday
The point is they laugh at what you say..."

"You had a bad day
You're taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don't know
You tell me don't lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride
You had a bad day
The camera don't lie
You're coming back down and you really don't mind
You had a bad day..."

"Sometimes the system goes on the blink
And the whole thing turns out wrong..."

"So where is the passion when you need it the most
Oh you and I
You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost..."

Pieces of "Had a Bad Day" by Daniel Powter.

Gaah! Where's that good day when I need it? Too many bad ones in a row. Lots of work tonight.

If you see the other half of my heart walking around out there, could you send him my way?

Guess Who Had a 6 AM Practice Today?

That's right. Me. Wish I could say otherwise. Wooey, that one was early. And it went till 7:30 and I have an 8 o'clock class. I was flying to get showered in time. I even drove the van to the SRC so I could get back more quickly. I had KT drop me off and take the van back to its parking spot. I felt like a schoolkid being dropped off at the elementary wing in the minivan...except that I've never had that experience before, hehe. I don't think. Well, not in high school or elementary that is. Perhaps in K4. Whatever.

So I have lots on my plate. In 7 minutes, I have to leave to get in to the Esys lab room to practice for my lab practical tomorrow. That is where each lab partner goes in by him/herself and does an abbreviated lab alone to see if he/she knows what he/she is doing. So let's hope I know what I'm doing...yikes!

I am now a part of the HSS Student Advisory Board. We have 3 meetings during the year to discuss changes or improvements in the humanities at Rose; I was apparently highly recommended by Dr. Williams, which is cool since I think she is amazing! She is my Lit of War prof this quarter, and I am hoping to get her for Tech Comm my junior year.

Tonight after the lab preparations, I will get dinner and then go shopping in the C-Store. Junk food time! I shopped in the bookstore earlier today and decided I really want to splurge in some stuff, but I kinda am not sure about the resources to do so. I would love to do all of my Christmas shopping there, but hahaha, would all of my family really want everything with a big Rose-Hulman stamped on it?? Plus it's super-duper expensive. Ok, off to lab practical practice it up! Ooo, say that eight hundred times fast!

Adios!

The End of Fall Break

That's so sad. I had a great break! And now it's all over...

I got to go home for about a day and some odd hours! Woohoo! I saw the fam, even Buzz and Emily. We celebrated Hyo-Sun's birthday on Thursday (and I got lots of home cookin' in me - grin). I went out with Jaymi and Kyle for a while that night as well...haha, guys, it was a blast as always! We really know how to party. Kmart SO wasn't ready for us!

On Friday, surprise surprise, Emily and I were recruited to play in an alumni/faculty soccer game against the PCS varsity team. We ended up tying it 1-1; but the faculty side should have creamed the varsity team. We were so much better!

Then I drove back to Rose on Friday night and the next morning (bright and early) left for Kentucky with my teammates. Yeah, folks, I was up at six a.m. That's ridiculous. But we had a lovely breakfast at Denny's, so that kinda sorta made up for it.

We proceeded to lose every game that weekend. Aaaarrrghhh! But luckily, that is not all that I will remember from the weekend. I personally set a career high and led the team in kills in our first match (10 kills); then I played the best games of my career for the rest of the weekend. We just never have all of our guns firing at once. It's like only one of us can have a good game at a time. Grrrrr!

We have tomorrow off, and I will be doing lots of homework then, but the break will be glorious. I might find out about my con apps test tomorrow! *cross fingers*

Alrighty, I'm off to bed (yeah, at 8:30) so I can get up SUPER early tomorrow - 5ish if I'm motivated - and get some DE done. Adios, all!

Second Interview Over!

Fall break is tomorrow! Weesa goin' hooooome!

Yeah, so Larry Lynch, the guy who interviewed me, kept saying how well the first interview went with Patterson and how well I was answering questions....so keep you fingers crossed! Maybe I'll have a job this summer in good ole Peoria!

Alrighty, take care everybody!

One Interview Down...

One to go! Phone interview #1 done and over forEVER!!!!

I think I did well, besides some super cheesy comments that I knew I would somehow say - dang phones - so all in all, WOOHOO!!! I find out in a month (and after tomorrow's interview) what they decided.

Time to take a con apps test. Booooo! I'm nervous but still on an adrenaline high from the interview, so bring it con apps! Yeah, just so you know, a phone interview is the most natural knock-out high you can get. Woo, I'm still spinning! And shaking. Aaahh, need to go burn off some energy! Guess that's what the test is for....

Talk to you fine folks later!

New Personal Record!

I got my highest single match kill record against Rhodes...7 kills! I'm working my way up there...next goal: double digits.

Haha, in high school, that would have been nothing. But I'm excited about it now...against those big, bad blockers! And those durn liberos! Yay!

So I am procrastinating AGAIN...gotta go study con apps. I have a test tomorrow. And a phone interview - gulp - on Wednesday. And another interview some other time that I do not know of yet. Oh boy. I get the shakes just thinking about it.

Alright, I'm off. I'll go study now. Sigh.

We're going to Milwaukee On the Train!!

Texas, that is. By airplane, that is. The Boys Next Door is a grrrreat movie!!

So I have to turn in my transcript to Cat and set up my phone interview for Wednesday of next week. After that is a follow-up interview if they liked me the first time. Not a phone interview. And I want a summer internship, not a spring or fall one, so I am competing against a lot of people. I am excited and nervous and overwhelmed because I have too much to do tomorrow!

I should go pack and finish laundry. I got my paper written for tomorrow and the con apps homework for Friday done. Now I just have to get the con apps and Esys homework due Monday done...and study for the con apps test on Tuesday. This weekend should be tons of fun! As long as I don't slack off and end up doing a buttload of homework all at once cuz I didn't get it done before.

Take care, everybody! Next time I post, I will have been to Texas and back! And to the Riverwalk, hopefully. Peace out!

First of all...

I would read it, Mom! I like hearing about your day. And who else really matters - er, I mean, I would read it!

Second, I have a Caterpillar information session tonight at 5:30 until 7:30. After the Cat reps are done talking, I am going to talk to them and set up a phone interview...because I am going to be gone this Friday when they are interviewing all of the other intern candidates. It's super exciting and at the same time nerve-wracking...because I am horrible on the phone! But I am so happy that they are willing to do this for me.

So I am going to go do homework and get ready for the Cat meeting. Hope everyone had a really super-duper day!

Early to Bed Tonight

My day starts early tomorrow. I may even fit in a - gasp - jog in the morning. Don't get too optimistic, but it sounds good right now before I have to wake up and do it. I haven't had a nice peaceful jog to myself in a while...since summer, I believe. Also, I miss (whoa, hold on to your hats, folks) the really early morning feel. I hate being awake that early because I am still soooo tired, but the early morning and watching the sunrise is something I miss from working this summer. Granted, it will be a bit cooler this time of year than it was last month, but I can just layer if need be.

Hopefully, I will get up, jog, eat breakfast, shower, go to the AM service at Maryland, then spend the rest of the day doing the homework I most definitely didn't do today or yesterday. There's the game plan. Whether or not I go through with it will be another story. Gotta stop writing and start sleeping! Adios, all.

Homecoming

Last night was pretty cool. I was here for the first time ever for a Rose homecoming! We went to a pep rally at 8:30 PM. Coach got up to introduce our senior. We cheered really loudly! All of the sports teams did the same...our football coach was hilarious and bashed fast trackers, hahaha. The pep band was really good this year, which was fun. The drummers rocked! Then we found out who won the frat/sorority banners and had the cheerleaders (actually pretty good this year) and dance squad perform. The dancers...ahahahahaha...had this little Asian guy on the team (that's right, a guy on the dance team) that waas ohso flamboyantly gay. He did all the hip stuff and walked out like he was on a runway. There was a lot of...interesting discussion about him. The homecoming queen was voted for...Danna Sheridan, my SA from last year, won! Yay, I voted for her.

Then there were the fireworks! So cool, it was like the 4th of July again. At the end, they put off a ton of red, white, and blue fireworks, then set off like fifteen "cannons", which I had never seen before...basically big fireballs that make a huge noise! The finale also included abou tten of my favorite fireworks, the ones that don't really have pretty sparks and stuff, but just make really loud bangs.

Then followed the bonfire, a tradition at Rose. It is about 2 and a half stories tall; there is a no-fly zone over Rose during our homecoming because the heat from the fire can mess with the airplane's instruments. Another Rose tradition is the outhouse placed on top of the bonfire. If it falls through the middle of the woodpile, we will win the football game. If it falls off the side, then we will lose. Well, this year, the outhouse burned up and kinda disintegrated before doing either. So I don't really know what that means. The fire was, I hear, not as impressive or hot as it usually is, but I had never seen it before so it was cool. You see, the freshmen had lots of difficulties this year; the base of the fire ended up being made up of treated wood, so that's no good. But I still liked it!

Our volleyball games...well, we won the first match and lost the second. Neither of them were good games for me. I am so sick of working so hard and still being so far behind everyone else. I don't want to look like a fool out there and I certainly don't want to bring down the team. Why can't anything come easily?

So I will probably spend the rest of the day doing homework...woohoo...and/or perusing the homecoming tents and crowds. See you all later, take care!

Ah, Relaxation...

This post will thus be about relaxation.

You see, I have finished my con apps homework for tomorrow, all five problems!!! Yay, and I only needed help on two of them! And I think I understand the two I got help on! It's such a good feeling not to be worried about homework. Now over the weekend I only have to write a Lit of War paper, practice DE until I get it, and do about 6 Esys problems. No problem! Right? But I refuse to worry about that right now! I am in a darn good mood.

As to weekend Wednesdays, as requested, I shall explain them. They are the day of the week in which most (not all, but most) students have one or less classes. The Rose class schedule revolves around MTRF classes, not W ones. Mostly, W classes are labs - I have a three hour Esys lab on W's, for example. Some students even have nothing to do on Wednesdays. So it is not like PCS, in that PCS just assigned less homework on Wednesdays...it is more that there is no class so nothing is due. Plus, that means Tuesday nights are the fun nights here, not Wednesday nights as it was back in high school.

Alright, I'm getting outta here. Take care, everyone!

Boo Yah!

Guess who got a 95 on her Esys exam?? Oh yeah, baby!!! I'm super excited about that one. I would have had a 96 if I hadn't forgotten to write down units on one part of one problem. Grr, I hate stupid mistakes like that. Well, that's a solid A in that class for midterms! Yay!!

So now I am doing con apps problems, yuk. They aren't bad (the first three, anyway); it's the last two that are killing me...well, I really don't even know where to start. I think I'll go start guessing now. Maybe that will get me somewhere. You never know!

Bonfire and pep rally tomorrow! Yay for Homecoming! It should be a blast!

We have two games this Saturday, so come on out!

Wednesday, September 28, 2005

Oh, and I applied online to Caterpillar today! Go internships! Hopefully I will get one there, but if not I am getting one this year. For shizzle.

Sweaty Girl

Ugh, I need to go shower. But I figured you all needed a glimpse into my day before I did...see, aren't I the considerate one?

So, I had an Esys exam on...Tuesday. Wow, I couldn't remember what day it was for a second there. Was that only yesterday??? Geez louise. Yeah, so I think I rocked it. Yup, pretty sure. Heh heh. I will remain optimistic this year. But then Mike and I (my lab partner) took the full three hours today on the lab because we had to start all over pretty much. Snap. But it turned out all right. We got the number we needed JUST as the last bell was ringing. Yay for not being late! Dr. Padgett would have marked us as late, too, if we hadn't gotten done on time. Grrr. But he's a cool guy, and he showed us what we were doing wrong, so we kind of started to understand and everything! Guess that's what I pay the big bucks for, huh?

Practice today was "individuals"; pretty much just half the team at a time so we can focus on things we need to work on as individuals. It was short but a killer. I did three sets of rapid fire hitting, which is starting at the net, transition, approach, swing, transition, approach, swing, over and over and over until you wanna die. Yep. But it's good for me and I am gaining more ball control as the season progresses, something I really need to work on. Ahem, cuz in PCS vball if we got it in the court we were pretty durn happy.

Everyone come to our games this weekend! It's homecoming here at Rose, so it's going to be a blast with lots of people and alumni!

I better go...gotta write out our lab and do some DE and con apps. Maybe. But it is weekend Wednesday. It's kinda crazy when you think about it; I had weekend Wednesday's at both PCS and Rose. Craziness. My graduate school better have a similar mindset or I don't know what I'm gonna do. I might be physically incapable of doing homework on a Wednesday.

"Lots of People Go To College for Seven Years!"

"Yes, they're called doctors."

Hahahahahaha, I love a good Tommy Boy quote! Go watch it "while you're sitting there not being slim." Hehehehe!

I'm in Kentucky!

Just thought that I would write a post while I am in Kentucky because I don't believe that I've had the pleasure before. We are in the hotel and I am on Jess's laptop. We stay here tonight and the next and play both days. Woohoo for getting to sleep in! Now maybe I will go do some Esys...or just chill and watch TV. Oh yeah, and yay for rooming with Jess and Amanda because that means I get the bed to myself!

Kentucky This Weekend!!

Well That Was Unexpected.

Ain't it great when you are just strolling through life, pretty sure of yourself, and wam! you're suddenly knocked off of your feet and left with a nasty bump on your head? On the one hand, it's a great ego-buster. On the other hand, it kinda smarts.

Sheesh, I SWEAR I was ready for that con apps exam. Then, wammo!, the test comes along and looks nothing like the homework; the people who haven't been doing the homework actually probably did better than those of us who did. Grrrr, why do I try so hard on my homework when the tests look like that???? And another thing...who in the WORLD puts 3 questions with parts a and b at least in each of them on a 50-minute test when it takes me four hours to do 2 questions every night???? HELLOOOO!!!!!

Grr. Well, strangely enough, I am in a really good mood. I think it is a slightly high feeling from the exultation of being DONE with that exam. ForEVER.

Well, I will quit posting, and YAY for Tuesday's!!!!

It's the Wait

That hurts the most.

I'm just kinda sitting here waiting for that time when I get to go and take my con apps exam. Get to...ha! As if it were a privelege. Well, you see, I think I am ready for it. Studying would be pretty useless right now, so I am just wasting time waiting for that lovely 2:20 to roll around so I can go to class.

I think I will make a mailroom run. That will cure my anxiety.

Just so you all know, I definitely set my alarm for 6:15 today so I could get up and study and have breakfast and devotions and such...and woke up to the fire alarm going off at 8:15. That doesn't bode well for the Esys class I have at 8. Whoops. But hey, I made it. It just threw off my day a little bit. In fact, I'm still in my pajamas and will remain so until practice at 4:30.

Gilmor Girls tonight! Woot woot!

Take that, DE!!

That's right, who's the bomb? I totally haven't done DE homework in a week and I think I aced...or at the very least I definitely passed...that quiz we just took! You see, Sherman does not assign any homework; correction, he assigns it but none is ever due. Therefore I have zero motivation to actually do my homework...although after last night's slight panic, I may be doing a bit more DE now than I have been. Also, Sherman's "quizzes" are 50-minute quizzes, ie a test without the weight of one. So there was a lot of material on this quiz and about 10 questions (a lot in DE world). Woot for getting up at 6:30 to study! (with the intention of getting up at 5:30, heh heh, yeah that one fell through)

For all of you doubters out there, blogger rocks!! Xanga is for the younger generation; I, on the other hand, am fast approaching the ripe old age of 20 - eek! - and must therefore use grown-up online journals and eat tasteless and strange-colored foods.

So, the power went out here at Rose and now the network is down and now I can't log in my work study hours and now I can't get paid. That is, until they fix it. So I will go finish my con apps homework (until I get stuck, that is) while I wait for the BLOODY COMPUTER TO START WORKING! >:()

Tata for now!!

It would be so much easier to let go if I actually wanted to.

My Feet Hurt...

Hey Mom, did you recognize that quote??

"What's your name?" "I'm Thor." "You're Thor?" "Well it hurts!"

All of these quotes are in honor of my poor throbbing foot. The poor lil guy is really not so little; he's at least bigger than his brother. And no, it should not concern you that my feet carry their own gender. Anyways, I hurt my right foot somehow in practice yesterday. Tracy, the trainer, thought it was a jammed big toe...but lemme tell you, it ain't just the big toe that hurts now; and why would my ankle be swollen of it was just the big toe, hmm?

Besides the foot dealio, however, yesterday's practice was the bomb. We worked SO hard...for every missed serve, we ran sprints (after the first miss, 1 sprint, after the second, 2 sprints, etc). Our side was doing so bad (SEriously, just get the serves in the court!) that Coach had to start reversing the number of sprints or we would have been past twenty, I'm sure off it. Then we switched to push-ups. Girls quit trying to hit the zones because they were afraid of missing the court or hitting the net, so the drill wouldn't end! We finally got it, but it took half of forever. It was amazing though! We played a new serving game after that; it had us sprinting a lot as well. But that was the kind of stuff we needed to do. Most of the points we give up to the other team is in unforced errors. Maybe now we can change that.

We have our first conference play this weekend! We will play our opening tournament at Depauw. We can so do this! I hope the girls are getting pumped up, because we have so much talent and potential and athleticism. We just need to pull it all together.

My niece is gorgeous! I hope I get to see the family soon. I saw Mom, Dad, Hyo-Sun, Zach, and Elyse last weekend, which was super cool! Now I just need to see Emily, Betsey, Dan, Luke, Lacey, and Grace! And little guy. But he won't be visible for a while yet.

Gotta head off to the sheet-less bed. Man, wish the housekeepers could get under our decks to put those sheets on. I swear, I go sheet-less for a good four days or so before I get around to putting them on. Then it's time to strip them again. Sigh, it's a hard-knock life, I tell you.

Libero Rules

In response to my Dad's comment, I will proceed to write this post that may be of zero interest to some; so DON'T READ IT then. If you are interested, by all means, continue.

The libero cannot officially "start"; at least, she cannot be on the floor with the starters at the beginning of a game, though in Coach's stats, she would have started every game. Instead, she stands off to the side until the ref waves her on. A libero does not have to sub like a normal player; she runs in behind the attack line while the player she is going in for runs off the court (also behind the attack line).

Therefore, we techinically have 7 starters every game, which (Dad) would mean we only have 2 subs, but there will always be 3 girls on the "bench". It's just that one of them is always actually an active player - she will be running in and out with the libero. You see, there are 3 players rotating for the libero position. Make sense?? If not, let me know.

Time for class! Hope that was a fun and informative volleyball lesson for y'all.

PS Jaymi, high school libero's are now legal if you want to incorporate that into the PCS squad. ;)

Hi, Mom!!

Smile, cuz I'm sending you a big online hug! If you get lonely, just think about those days when we drove you crazy and suddenly you will realize that you're living it up!

So, new news. We lost girl #6 today. Yup, Amy Schnegg quit today. Wow. We are now down to 9 players. That's only 3 subs, for those of you who are a bit shaky on volleyball rules. That also means we have one option for setter and a pretty set back row.

That was a big shock for the girls today. We are still getting over it. Whoa.

While it will give me more opportunity to play, I can't be happy about it from a team perspective. We could have used those girls. Sniff!

Alright, getting back to homework and such. Love you all!

Drama, Drama, Drama

So, we lost girl #5 this weekend. Yup. Our suitemate Ashly quit this Saturday after the games. Oh boy.

You see, Ashly was told the libero position was hers this season if she played; as long as LT was out, that is. Even when LT got back, however, Coach said that LT would have to re-earn the position.

Yeah, then this weekend came around and LT (a week out of surgery) played all but one game of one match as the libero. Now, I am not saying that she wasn't great while she was out there; she was. And Ashly was having a bad game. But that was one game; everyone else gets more than one chance. Coach wouldn't even rotate the libero position. It was all LT.

Anyways, that is all Ashly has been working for (and now comes the part I don't agree with). She couldn't accept playing any different role on the team and she wanted that libero position now. So she quit. She knew Coach would never play her as libero as long as LT was around.

Well, Coach went off on Ashly. Finally, she let her go, but told her to get her stuff out of her locker on Monday. Ashly went down today (Sunday) to get it done early, and lo and behold, her locker padlock is missing, the sign with her name on it was removed and stuck inside her locker, and all the team stuff (jerseys and spandex and shoes) was gone, along with one pair of Ashly's own personal spandex. Ashly had expensive jewelry, money, and her own clothing in there. Even the laundry bag that we all have to throw down to get our sports stuff cleaned was gone; someone had emptied the contents (all dirt laundry, of course) out into Ashly's locker.

Ashly came back pretty upset; at first she laughed until she realized her stuff had been left there unlocked and vulnerable to being stolen. A stranger had just walked out of the locker room (the girls' varsity locker room!!) as Ash was walking in, so the lockers were there to be taken from. So we told her to report it. In case it wasn't Coach, Ash would be blamed for losing her stuff, and worst case, Coach would say that she stole the stuff.

So Ash called security and reported it, and they had her come down to the security building to make an official report. The guy she talked to apparently has a daughter that went through the same thing and he was totally on Ashly's side. He is going to confront Coach about it and make sure that this is taken care of. Oh man.

So, practice tomorrow out to be interesting. I really don't want it to be a big mess, but it already looks that way. And Coach will know that KT and I know everything about it. I just don't want it to be awkward, because I'm really not on anyone's side. I don't think Ashly should have quit, and I think what Coach did (if it was her) was childish and stupid. Aahh! So the next couple of days should be quite the soap opera. Tune in next time to hear about the next juicy act of vandalism.

Saturday, September 10, 2005

WE WON!!

Finally. Our record rises from the hole wherein it lies to the grand total of 1-7. Haha, woot!

I went to a CAT career fair-ish thing today. Kerbel was there! She works for Caterpillar now and she was one of the recruiters that came to campus, so I got to see her. I gave them my resume and I am going to apply online before I go to the informational meeting sometime in October here at Rose. I want a darn internship this year, dang it!

Ok, I'm headed out to see a Rose football game (the first I've been able to see), so I'll talk to you fine folks later!

Cuz You Had a Bad Day

This is a good song, by the way. It's about someone having a bad day, but it's so relaxing and has the perfect sound.

Have you ever just had one of those awful, excruciating days? Well, so have I. And I don't know how to fix it. Hey, if I could, I wouldn't be having them, would I? But here's something I realized about my bad days: usually, it means I was fixated on myself. How else could I take everything so personally? Once I get my focus off of me and onto more important matters (hm, like furthering the kingdom?), things don't necessarily get better, but they are suddenly not about you anymore. It's all about perspective.

Every little thing doesn't have to be perfect. Another theme from another good and true song.

Here's an example of perspective for you. This is Jesus right before the events of the crucifixion, when He knows what is going to happen to Him and He is staring His future in the face.

"Now My heart is troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father, save Me from this hour'?
No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. Father, glorify Your Name!"

Wow. One more thing that I realized about my life. I can look back and see a whole life that I have lived...without making a discernable impact in the world for the kingdom. If what I am striving for is my future forever in Jesus' kingdom, why am I so focused on the small, inconsequential earthly things? It can be depressing, but I prefer to make it the spark that lights the fuse.

Some things just aren't that important. Including having a good day. Jesus' worst day in His entire life was also the day He saved all of mankind. Maybe that will help you through your next tough spot.

Do You Know How GOOD It Feels?

Oh wow, I am finished with con apps homework...and that is a massive task. I don't have DE done, but he doesn't collect it and right now I feel as light as air, I just don't care! I had a good practice today, and we open tomorrow at home, the Rose invitational; and my family will be here!

The sun is shining, even though it is midnight here. I know it's out there, because I can feel it warming my heart.

"Good morning, life! Good morning, world, how are ya happiness? All at once I know what living can be! It feels so good to be alive and in love!" Sing it, Dean. Minus the "in love". Don't freak, folks.

Rise and Shine, It's Butt-Whipping Time!!

Quote from Cool Runnings, by the way. Go see it, it's a classic.

Wooooow, today was a tough practice. I knew it would be after the horrendous failure of a weekend we just had; but oy. I am dead tired now and am trying to get my con apps done in time for class tomorrow. It is due tomorrow and I am getting sick of doing it already. At least it is not too hard in the concept area yet (haha, at least, I am hoping I got it right). It's just sooooo tedious.

And it's only two problems. Heh heh, I may not live this year out.

I love my family! They all called...well, I called them, but they put me on speaker phone and I got to talk to the whole family on Labor Day weekend when I couldn't be home. Sniff, poor me. Maybe next weekend they will come down here to visit me! Then they can see my mad volleyball skills.

As LT would say, jk. Gotta quit avoiding homework now. It's getting late.

Opening Weekend

Well, the first four games of our season are behind us. That's right, we opened yesterday and today at Earlham College in Eastern Indiana. It was quite the weekend. We lost all four of the matches, but we went five games in one match and four in another. The second day, we figured it out for one game in a match. We were really playing together. But then we lost it in the next three games.

We are a really young team...one senior, one junior, six sophomores, and three freshmen. And our senior is still out because of her gallbladder operation. I saw some really exciting things happening, but it was still a disappointing ending to our opening games.

On a happier note, I played quite a bit! I didn't play the last match because I made the mistake of saying that I wasn't feeling well; Coach really won't play someone who is sick if she can help it. But in the other three matches, I got a lot of time in! I played full rotation on Friday (that means I actually stayed in all the way through front row, served, and played all of the back row and just kept going...usually I only play front row). It was really cool! I had kills and such as well and several touches on the block. Woohoo!

Next week is going to be AWFUL in practice, however. Our coaches weren't happy with our performance (mainly).

Well, I have to go finish the 120 pages of Iliad reading due on Monday; I think I will save DE (Differential Equations and Matrix Algebra I - I will call it just DE from now on) and Esys (Electrical Systems) for tomorrow. Adios and have a great day at church!

It Slipped Right Through My Fingeeeerrrsss...

A Mulan quote there. Application: the money I just keep shelling out by the hundreds and thousands. I just paid off my laptop loan, you see. Aw man, that's a lot more moolah (sp??) slipping away.

On another note, Mom, read the comments from my previous blog. I commented back on your comment. Not too important, I just didn't want to write it again here.

Classes start tomorrow!! Wow, I am going to be busy again! And by busy, I mean no-sleep dog-tired busy. Maybe. We shall see how I manage my time. Hopefully I am better than I was last year. And hopefully my con apps prof won't hate me.

Our first match is in two days! We have two that day and two the next. Then the next weekend is the Rose Invitational! Woot woot!

Alright, I'm outta here. Have a good one, everybody!

Tuesday, August 30, 2005

Aaaarrrrrggg

I am so BORED!! Shoot, this is insane. I find myself eating, sleeping, and writing on this blog just to fill time. Craziness. I'm kind of looking forward to school, although my con apps prof is going to hate me. I say that because we just got our departure sheets for volleyball and I miss his class on Fridays about four times, once on a Tuesday, and twice on Thursdays. That means I will miss tests, lectures, and quizzes on what is reportedly one of my hardest classes. Woot.

But I am looking forward to taking my Literature of War class. I will be reading a lot in there, including The Red Badge of Courage, which I have heard is a classic. Yay! Finally, a humanity I am interested in.

Well, just shooting the breeze, so I will go now and look for something killer exciting to do. Adios!

Correction...I Know Your Father

Ok, that was a quote from Lion King, but what I really meant was just the first word. Apparently, you solder rings together, not sotter. Just setting the record straight. Ok, have a nice day, bye!

I've Decided:

I look really good engaged. Haha, seriously, I do! My roomie had her promise ring on and gave it to Coach for practice. Then she forgot to get it after practice. Since I was going to the ISU/IU match with Coach and some other girls, KT had me pick up the ring for her.

I wore it all during the game and the rest of the day until I saw KT again. Yup, it looked pretty good. It's silver. I was debating whether to get silver or gold, and now I am leaning towards silver. Matt (the manager) suggested platinum, but 1) you have to clean it more and 2) it is SUPER expensive and 3) silver looks exactly the same to me. So why bother?

Then I went into the diamond decision. Square, rectangular, or round??? Huge? Small? Lots of diamonds? Only one? Wow, so much to think about. A big band or a little one, two sottered together, or one that has engravings and carvings on it?? Do I want color or just the traditional diamond with silver or gold?

Aw man, the decisions! It's a good thing I have about ten years to figure it out, huh?

Why Thank You

I am rather partial to my blog's new look myself. You see, I was waaaay too bored yesterday, and I changed a lot of stuff in my blog; the whole template, some of the profile, and the little info bar at the top. Heh heh, if I am still bored today, it will probably change some more.

It is my roomie's second anniversary with her boyfriend today, so she will not be around. We don't have practice. There is freshmen orientation. Therefore...I have nada to do. That means I can do WHATEVER I want; and it also means I will probably not be able to think of a thing to do. Any suggestions would be happily accepted. By Thursday I will be loaded up with homework, so I need to go out and do stuff now.

Well, I'm out, take care and have an amazing day!

What Is New??

Weeellll, not too much that is exciting. I bought books yesterday, for a grand total of 311 something dollars...plus the 4 or 5 dollar book I had to get at the mall because the bookstore did not have it in stock. I visited some people around campus...the SA's, mainly. I saw Ben and Caleb (Speed 1 SA's) and I went to David's room but only Zekis and co. were there, so I just told them to say that I said hi. I went to almost all of the dorms and talked to some people. I saw Kyle in Speed, but he was busy with freshmen stuff, so we just said hi.

I am missing a roomie, but maybe when she gets back we can go get dinner or something. New Res is filling up! I kind of dread the return of a few, including the boy who won't leave me alone, good old Joe. Otherwise it should be fun.

LT...our only senior on the volleyball team and one of our captains...just had surgery yesterday. She had her gallbladder removed. We wanted to do something for her, but we didn't have a card, so we all signed a piece of Rose-Hulman letterhead paper...hahaha, we are so loving. Coach went out and bought a bracelet for her as well, so we did do something for her.

Some volleyball girls and the managers and Coach went to an ISU/IU match down in Bloomington today. That was fun! The girls are SO good...I guess that's the difference between Division III and Division I. IU won, and they were aMAzing. It made me want to play some more, which is a good thing.

I love my family, and I wish I could be there to help out my sister in her transition into college; she is doing fine, great actually, but I still want to be there with her! Fending off boredom in the days that we have nothing to do is kind of tough. I am still used to ten-hour workdays; not having the hours filled with busyness is killing me! KT and I did watch a movie last night, so that helped a little. Now I am jsut wasting time, however. I should go run a load of laundry...woohoo! And clean the room. Sigh, the drudgeries...

By the way, here's the latest on the volleyball team. We went from 15 girls to 11 in the course of the preseason (we lost Jerikar before the season even started, but she is WAY too busy with being an SA, so we understood), and our captain is currently out of play for at least another week, if not 2 or 3. That leaves 10 healthy girls to play...and our first game is in a week. We get along SO well, and I think we are a really strong team. I feel like I need to step it up, but I have so much to learn still...and I am! I need better timing and no hesitations; I think if I nail that, Coach will play me outside a LOT and middle a little. Haha, we will see. I have lots of ground to cover.

Now that I have sufficiently bored you, I will leave you alone. Go enjoy your day!

Domino Effect

Well, one more down. Eleven to go! Honestly, I think that was the last one. Hopefully. LT has surgery on Friday for her gallbladder (taking it out), so she will be out a week (2 max). That leaves ten girls. But we are kicking butt! We have to work so hard, and it is really good for us. We work well together and so far there really isn't that much drama (except for the girls leaving).

We had a "team bonding" night yesterday. We drew names and made posters for the girls whose name we chose. Then we presented them as a group and the next day (today) put them up on our lockers. They look really cool! Ashly Trantham drew my name, and she made such a cute poster! It has me (with a curly fro, haha) with a word-bubble that says "grrrr!" because I say that all the time. Then it says in big letters on the rest of the poster...well, I'll get back to you on that because I forgot what it said. Oops. I drew KT's name!! That was fun, but I'm not really creative. We found out Brandi is pretty much an artist, though. Some girls just did a great job! It was fun.

Tonight we go out for ice cream on Coach because of the serving challenge she gave us (we hit balls into the ball carts on a serve or a mat on the floor....woohoo!). It should be great. Today is our last day of two-a-days...wow!

Soreness is working off, hallelujah! Take care, people. Off I go.

Droppin' Like Flies

We lost another one today. Sandy quit (sniff). We liked her a lot, and she liked us, but she was flipping out about school, so she is just going to concentrate on that this year. Maybe next year. She will probably play spring season with us like KT did. Adios for now.

Sunday, August 21, 2005

Well...

They did not all stay on, referring to my previous post. We have already lost one girl (who did not actually play in even one practice with us). Just thought I'd keep you posted. But 13 is a good number for a team. It adds intrigue. That said, I will probably hit the sack soon, considering practice starts at 8 tomorrow.

A Not-So-Deep Post

For those of you who get bored easily.

Volleyball has started. So far I have done one complete day of practices. About eight hours in all. My legs (butt and thighs, mostly...yeah, thought you would like to know) and right shoulder are quite stiff. And I did something obscenely painful to my right pinky toe. Not sure what, but it is swollen and red...poor little guy looks like an itty bitty sausage attached to my foot. It hurts really bad to play in, and it's all because of those stupid new shoes. So I shall be wearing my old ones (the ones with no support whatsoever) for today's (Sunday) practice. Hopefully that will give my toe time to heal.

We have 14 girls if they all stay on...MASSIVE!! Haha, it's fun, but I still miss the freedom of summer. And it just means school is going to start that much sooner. Yuk.

Oo, good song. We are listening to country, you see, and it's "Would You Like Fries With That?". Hahaha.

Ok, gonna get going on my bumming. Talk to you all later...comment and let me know you are all still alive!!

Point Two Seconds of Your Time:

Hi everyone! That's my favorite short number, by the way. Ok, just sayin' hi. I'm about to head out to Jaymi's to par-tay, so I will see most of who reads this in an hour. Love ya all, and I'll post something meaningful probably during volleyball preseason; which is in - gulp - two weeks. Off I go!

Wuv...Twue Wuv

That's a good movie. Haven't seen it in AGES, lemme tell you.

So, I got really tired of not knowing that guy's name at work. So I did what any logical, sane person would do. I made one up for him. Let me ask you...if you could pick ANY name in the world for someone, what would it be? You see, this was quite the puzzler for me. I mulled about it for a while. I finally came up with the perfect name for my ohsohot mystery man.

Polonius Rafael. Wow, doesn't that just ring of greatness? What, weird you say? I had SO MANY names to choose from! What could I do?

For reference's sake, check out Hamlet (the one by Shakespeare, not Veggi Tales). And the Rafael just flowed. Yup.

Ok, the VERY DAY I finally made up this name, I learned his real one. Matthew. Matt.

Mine was better ;)

Sum-uppance of life: Went to the fair. Saw elephants. And Krystal Tabor. And Weider-man. And John Mickhva;h;fa;h. Oh and I workedworkedworked. And told a guy no when he asked if he could call me. Aren't I sweet?

See ya later!

Mystery Man

Still don't know his name. But after the absolutely thrilling experience of being waved at by him the other day, guess what???

He spoke to me today!

He accused me of hitting his car. And the car of the lady he was talking to at the time.

Wow, I have such a way with men.

Just so you know, he was just kidding, but I was so swept off my feet by his wit that I proceeded to attempt a giant step over a compressor's tire and promptly go stuck, ending my not-so-graceful move with a jerky little hop. That one never fails to impress the male species. I try it all the time. Needless to say, I mumbled something incoherent and fled the scene, cheeks red with mortification.

I may never resurface at work. Lol, it was HI-larious, gosh darn it.

The Dark Horizon Looms

Sigh, college doth quickly approach. But no worries, this summer has been great, and it ain't over till it's over, folks! Everybody, enjoy it while it lasts, gosh darn it!

I think I'm in love. Haha, jk, but he has a really nice tan... See, I need to go on vacation. When the guys at work start to look good, you know things are going downhill. Especially considering the average age of the Sullair working population. And the fact that I don't even know the guy's name. Whoops.

Saw Mr. Lauson today! He must have made it back from Istanbul ok. Well, that place sounded as good as any, considering the man has encompassed the entire globe in his travels.

How's everyone doing?? My buddies are scattered to and fro and here and there and hither and yon, and I don't see hardly any of them!! Sniff. Poor little ole me. Miss you guys. If you read this post, leave a comment to let me know you are alive.

And no, I am not drinking, contrary to popular opinion. I simply cannot word things very well, that is all. Ah, time to work out again because I am a lazy old fart and everyone else on the team can run circles around me as well as outplay me in nearly every way. Now that I have the right outlook, "I'm off to the fair!" Heh heh, that Beauty and the Beast quote came out of nowhere. Thought "The Emperor's New Groove" was going to make an appearance for sure. Guess not.

Shoot, It Hasn't Even Been a Month!

Really guys, my last post was kinda recent considering the amount I frequent the Internet during the summer.

So...updates. Riiiight. My life is super boring now. I'm an adult after all.

Snigger. I didn't quite make it through that with a straight face either, no worries. Yeah, but it really is pretty darn dull. Unless you count being hit on by dudes ages 24 and up (MUCH closer to 35 in some cases) exciting. Haha, Sullair isn't that bad. I like it mostly. There are interesting people there. I wonder how I can make them see that going out and drinking is not the only way to have fun? Seriously, they always tease me about not drinking too much and not partying all night. Not all people have to be dead drunk to have a good time.

Welp, my family is going to see my other family this weekend to get the Luke Rumley's moved. Sniff, wish I could go. But I will see them....sometime. Maybe right before I go back to college, if I quit work early enough.

Just in case you are wondering, I in no way want to portray that I am complaining about the extremely lucrative and engineering-applicable job that fell into my lap this summer. I really am very happy for this opportunity. It's great. I just get rather tired from the long hours.

Hmm, working out is interesting. I really need to be doing a lot, but I am super tired when I get home from work. Mom and I have started going to Pumps Fitness in Valpo, and that at least gets me working out. It is fun and it's nice to hang out with Mom outside of the house and without the kids. Hopefully this will jumpstart my motivations and I will get moving. Today Betsey and I went out and played a little vball, so maybe it is working!

Summer vball practices are fun!! The girls are lots of fun and they work hard for me. They have learned so much! I'm proud of them.

Getting together with friends is one of the best parts of the summer, and this Sunday we will all be getting together at Cassie's house for a swimming/bbq party. Woot!

Well, gotta go shower so I don't smell completely awful for work tomorrow. Adios!

Home Sweet Home

Aw, my family's so nice. Even if we are all poor as churchmice.

I wish Jaymi all of the luck in the world with her new endeavors. Have a blast in Detroit, kid! That place is the bomb. I'm sure you can find a pimpin' ride there. Haha, that is, if your already decadent set of wheels begins to be unsatisfactory.

Work...good. I got my first paycheck! It was the biggest one I have ever gotten and it was only Wednesday through Saturday (32 hours) instead of a whole week. I worked 50 hours this week, so this paycheck should be more substantial. Woot!

Going to Culver's now, so I gotta get off. By the way, I love my friends, thanks for the fun times, guys! Don't ever lose your ability to make close bonds with people. It will make for a happy life down the road. Thanks for not just drifting apart like a lot of old high school friends do.

Be on later (oh yeah, and you deep ones out there, quit writing intense and confusing essay-thingies; sheesh, it's enough to make a girl depressed).

Thursday, June 16, 2005

People with absolutely no sensitivity bug me.

And jerks too.

So stay away if you fit into any of those categories. Thanks.

So, work is going pretty good. There is a lot to learn and some of it I don't have down yet, but I am getting it slowly but surely. Mark left today, sad day. He is going to another job. I kinda wish Dale had gone and Mark had stayed, but hey, can't have everything, right? At least Dale will be gone this week for vacation. Woohoo!

Wow, this summer is shaping up to be a lot more depressing than it was supposed to see. Let's just say my eyes are being opened to a lot of things, including to people who used to be friends. I'm beginning to recognize some things about myself as well. I just want to be able to be happy this fall, that's it. Hopefully all the things will work out and it will all be good. Cuz that would be grand.

Ok, gonna go watch the Incredibles with Zach and Elyse (it's Mom and Dad's anniversary, so Betsey and I are watching the kids). Then I have to make cookies for my line. Then I have to go to bed so that I can work said line tomorrow with my eyes open ;).

Adios everyone!

Short Blog

I'm on the police high-speed network right now. Or at least that is what it is called anyways, probably to discourage internet pirates like me. :) Oops.

Working now. I think I liked the bumming better. I only get about 4 hours of each day (the awake part, anyways) that I am not working. I even work Saturdays. Which is a HUGE good thing, but at the same time....I have zero time for the fun stuff! Wow, I surely can't wait until I am an engineer that can have less hours for more pay...hehe, good stuff.

Well, hoping to hit the Forty-Niner, Portage 9, and the beach as much as possible this summer. Everything's pretty spiffy right now. Talk to y'all later!

Ooh, Look At the Little Green Man

You know what I hear, folks? Oh, that's right, that's pure jealousy right there! Haha, I know, I'm spoiled at my little school, but I like it that way. Yup.

So I can't even really use our sloooooow dial-up because our computer is super jacked-up right now...and no, Mom, it is not entirely your fault.

So I have a butt-load of open houses to attend this week and next. Plus there is always Betsey's to get ready for.

Oo, oo, I know! I kinda sorta have a job! Woot, y'all! I may be working on an assembly line this summer. Or Radio Shack, but that is only if I don't get this job. It's a weird and drawn-out process. I am waiting for my drug test to come back (and no, I am not worried about it). I hope I get that job. Athough then I have to go through the first few stressful weeks of learning how to do it. Sniff. Poor me.

So how are you all doin'? It's been so long since I have communicated with the online world! At least, it feels like that. I shouldn't stay on long though, since I am using the school's connection (hehe). Come on, the PK has to have some privileges.

Alright, I'm out. Time to go sit on my butt and enjoy a glorious summer day! That's right, who has gone to the beach twice already? Oh, that's me. And I don't want to hear anything from the gainfully employed. I like my bum-ish status right now.

Anal Butt-Dwelling Monkey

I swear. Not really, because then I would be a heathen.

But some professors are just so.....urrggg. Well, hopefully I straightened him out in my email. :D

Um, ok, I am slightly frustrated with how poorly my email works on the home internet system, and since dial-up is slower than a LAN connection, I will be posting less frequently if at all. You may have to (sniff) wait to read my owrds of wisdom until next fall.

Well, gettin' off because I don't wanna tie up the phone line. Yay for being home and for a holiday weekend and for a potential job and all of that good stuff. Adios, everyone.

One Memorable Night

Wow, that was a great time! My day started at 7 AM, when I got up to get ready for class. I went to class (singular, only one that day, woohoo) and work and in between worked on my projects and tore apart our lofts and rebuilt our beds. I left right after work at 3:30 and went straight home, getting there at 6:30. Betesy got off of work at 7-ish but she had to shower, so we hi tthe road for the Pod's at 7:30.

Then began the Star Wars party. We had SW Ep II playing but there wasn't an extreme amount of watching going on. We ate and dressed up in our costumes. Mine involved a lot of painting of the face and hands, since I was going as the decaying emperor. Betsey looked GORGEOUS in her handmaiden costume (she basically looked like Padme, yup, that's my sister). Lauren ended up going as Yoda. She was SO CUTE in her green paint and her hair in pigtails and wired so that it stuck up like Yoda ears. Jori was aMAzing as Darth Vader. She had a full mask and the chest-piece and had made her own cape. She also had the gloves. Haha, it was SO awesome! Mother Pod went as Qui-Gon, and she was hilarious as she tried to accessorize (sp?) for a male Jedi. We took SO many pictures. We looked great. I even had a cane that went with the outfit! Jori painted it and did something crazy with a dull hatchet to make it all bent and gnarly. It was awesome.

The movie...wow. It was incredible. The special effects were beyond description. They get better with every movie. There were so many worlds because now Lucas basically has no limit to his imagination (with computers as advanced as they are). The acting, to my surprise, was not bad. I had heard it was going to be pretty wooden, but I did not get that feeling at all. It was very well done and helped connect a lot of pieces. (although Jori and I are convinced we found discrepencies)

Well anyways, afterwards I drove Betesy home and headed back to Rose at 3:00 AM. I had to stop for gas, but otherwise I made it all the way back without having to stop. Let me tell you, that was the longest drive back to Rose I have ever experienced.

I got back at 6:00 AM and got into bed at 6:30. I slept until 7:55 and went to my 8 o'clock class. And now I am writing this. By the way, I got a 93 on my physics test, the highest test grade I have ever gotten at Rose. a;hfa;vc;wae;hA;!!!!!!!

I'm excited. Ok, I have to go, lots to do today (including the truss-bust competition! Yikes!).

If One Could...

body-slam a physics test, I just did! Ha, there, I said it. I mock you, o weilders of bad test grades! I actually express my confidence beFORE I get the exam back! Because gosh dang it, this time I for really truly did well on it! Wahoo!

I hope.

So there it is. That grade should replace my last grade (hehe, if it could be called a grade with those negative signs in front of it), and now I just have to focus on - choke - the final.

So what is this craziness about the LC emailing me to say that I am working this Thursday? I most certainly am not! And I am out of work study as it is (I believe). But I for surely certain didn't sign up for work then. I remember specifically the slots being filled. Plus I have TWO (not one, but TWO) review sessions DURING that time frame. No sirree, I refuse to do it. Find somebody else. Grrr.

Ok, lots of fun and busy and hard stuff going on nowadays, so I shall get off and get to one of them. Take care and remember, only a week and a day (eight days unless you count weeks as that good ole old song "eight days a week, I loo-oo-oo-oo-00ve you", in which case it would be nine days - but its not cuz its eight) left until I get to go home!! I have an interview and job-searching awaiting me. PLEASE let me get a job! I need one oh-s0-badly. Ok, really, adios all.

Monday, May 16, 2005

Yay Rachel!

Thanks for the update, Kyle. That is SO cool! I haven't seen Rachel in forever, but I think she has been on the lung transplant list for a long time, and now she is finally getting a pair!

I like hearing good news about diseases like that. There are far too many sad cases that don't have the happy endings. Rachel is the bomb and she deserves this so much!

Holy cow, is she a senior now too??? Little Rachel??!! Insanity. I wonder what her future plans are? Sheesh. I swear she was 14 like last week.

Ok, now that I officially sound like an old woman, I will stop and get back to "work" at the LC. Of course, I think I have already exceeded my work study amount. But since my latest paycheck hasn't been processed yet, the LC doesn't know that and I will have to be compensated for this week as well. Hehe, I love the system. So with the people that do run out of work study, I guess they just quit coming to work unless they want regular payroll. I wonder if that puts the LC in a bind. Oh well. Alright, I'm off. Can't wait to see my beautiful sister perform this Friday and Saturday! And to see SW Ep III this Thursday! And to be DONE with school next week! Ok, bye!

Finals Stress Relievers

1) Try to lick your elbow.

2) Have a group meeting and play dodgeball (everyone against the most annoying and/or useless member).

3) Try to find your roomie (could keep me occupied for days).

4) Wear everything you own backwards.

5) Walk around campus in a bathing suit and a sheet (no, I have not done this).

6) Jump off the top of your dorm building into a pile of snow (all the cool MIT kids are doing it).
*note* requires snow

7) Every time the person you are doing your homework with leaves the room, erase his/her latest work.

8) Scream.

9) Find four middle-aged canoers to send you pictures. Eek.

10) Go outside often and lay out. And then get bored. And then jump into the weed-infested lake full of ugly white fish with water that tastes really bad and has hot and cold spots and the ladder is broken so you have to swim to the other side to get out and you get lost because you are swimming on your back and you end back up at the deck so you have to swim all the way back across the lake and you get weeds stuck in your hair because you are swimming on your back and then you have to walk all the way around the lake in only your suit because your stuff is at the deck and then you end up in a sheet. And people think you are dressed unseemly.

11) Repeat number 10. Cuz it's fun.

12) Complete every final in a foreign language. Even the math ones. Use Greek letters.

13) Watch a movie named Saw with your roomie and a couple of other people and then have them all leave you alone for the night with a huge imagination and see how late you can stay up.

14) "Don't Ask Me How I Know" is a good song.

15) That last one wasn't something to do but this one is: tear up your final fifteen minutes into the exam while yelling "freedom" in a heavy Scottish brogue. Then pause and sit quietly at your desk. Raise your hand and ask politely for another exam because you lost the last one. Repeat every fifteen minutes.

16) Try not to use the letter "e".

17) Pretend you are Peter Pan and your Spanish teacher is Captain Hook.

18) Take all of the ARA dishes in your room back to the cafeteria and go tell your coach that you already lifted for the day.

19) Fresh out, folks, but I will probalby think of more further into the week.

Disclaimer: If you have seen these before (Jaymi), it is because I SAW NO COPYRIGHTS, so lay off me, alright!!?? I would have added "I'm starvin", but that most definitely has a copyright. Somewhere.

When You Begin To "Get" Dilbert...

...run like your pants are on fire.

...you have finally become an adult.

...check your back for a stress hump.

...say good-bye to carefree weekends.

...you are probably at Rose.

...reality has taken over that cozy little idealistic world you used to live in.

...you have to accept it. You are now a tool.

Woooooooow.

That had to be the most random play I have ever seen. I just saw Picasso at the Lapin Agile. Supposedly it is a Steve Martin comedy. Oh my. Good ole Steve must have been higher than a kite when he wrote this one.

The lines and characters didn't really go together. Some of the lines were extremely dirty. And the Rose-quality performance didn't help it much. But hey, the sound and lighting was really good. And I did laugh at a few lines, I'll give you that. It was sad that the most laughed-at lines were the ones involving math. Ha.

And I don't get the pie joke dang it.

Well, let's just say that Joseph was better. It didn't have a 3-minute silence in which I wanted to jump up and down and yell, "Pick me!" I swear I could have fed them the lines faster. Good times. It was a fun night, however slightly horrible the play turned out to be.

Time to have a fun-filled Friday night with Jess and maybe Erff. Bye everybody!

Job Schmob

I hate looking for jobs. Yes, I want one, and yes, I want a career. But looking for one is the worst EVER. So I'm applying all over the place now. I may make a trip home sometime to apply, we shall see. If I get back early enough Wednesday the 18th, I can pick up all the applications I can get ahold of, though that may be too late by then. Whee, this is so fun. I guess I could always stand by the side of the road and hold a sign. At least I'm qualified for that job.

So much for internships. Ha. That worked out well. Next summer though, DEFinitely. Companies will get so sick of me breathing down their necks that they will hire me just to shut me up. Or they will hire illegal assasins to track me down and get rid of me quietly. Yes, that is opposed to the legal kind. Thank you.

Ahh, it's great to be in a good mood. And I should be after two hours of Mel Gibson. Heh heh. Well, I'm off, time to...get a job??? We'll see. Take care!

Tuesday, May 03, 2005

Haha, I just spelled my own name wrong. I was paying my housing deposit for next year and the lady asked me what my name was. I was like "Erin. R-E..." Then I stopped. Cuz that was ridiculous. She ignored me and said "I-N?" I said "Yeah." Rein. It's a great name. She did write it down correctly though. I managed to spell the last name right though. Amazing.

Whatever I feel like doing, gosh!!

So everyone's almost done with college for this year except me. They are all taking finals right now. I WANNA TAKE FINALS. No, I don't care that I will be missing 3 weeks worth of information. I just want to be done. PLEASE.

Had a lift test. Mr. Retarded did not interview me, however, as he had indicated he would. Instead, he said he would get back to me if I was still in the running. If he wasn't going to hire me, he should have just told me so I wouldn't have to drive up and back TWICE for this interview. I better get the darn job. Especially since my lift test was at 6:30 AM on a Saturday. Ridiculous.

Went to a weding this weekend. It was amazing! My cousin (the one getting married) sang to his bride at the altar...awww!! No one knew it was going to happen except for about 6 people. Sarah, the bride, was totally surprised. It was so sweet! "I'll be here. I will be here, when the..." and so on. It was awesome.

Then we headed to Luke and Lacey's apartment to celebrate Luke's birthday (a little late, true). It was fun, we played this game, Settler's something-or-other. That was Luke's present. Plus I gave them my Italy gifts. They liked 'em, I think. Grace is huge! She can sit up all by herself and she screeches...she's adorable. She has us all wrapped around her little fingers. Seriously, one cry and there are upwards of 4 or 5 Rumleys in her face, holding out toys and speaking in slightly scary baby gibberish. It's amusing.

Well, gotta go get ready for the day. Hope this post holds off the wolves for a while.

BoredBoredBored.

Oh, it's not that I have nothing to do. When that happens, you won't find me bored. For the first few hours, anyways. No, I have things I could be doing. But I reallyreallyreally don't want to. So I decided to entertain whoever is scanning this here blog.

So the creepy-dude scenario is rather "to-be-continued". You see, I can't be outright mean to him. And, sadly, that is not because I am not capable of being mean to him. It is because recently a family member of his died and I would feel like the biggest cretin in the world if I hurt him. Well, maybe not the BIGGEST cretin. But close. So I endure his comments. Now he is convinced that I can't get over what he told me a week or two ago. At first he was like "I hope I didn't really creep you out on Tuesday". I was like "No, I wasn't" (lie through the tightly gritted teeth). Then the next day (these comments just pop out randomly as we are in class, he just leans forward and drops the bomb. I swear, that kid...anyways, the next day he says "I don't want anymore awkward silences between us." "Um, huh?" "Don't you remember? You like didn't say anything to me yesterday." That's the point, genius!!! Let it go!! But I just tried to forget about it. If you will recall, we sit right across form each other. So my current sitting position at all times is with feet tucked tightly and safely out of range under my chair (gets a little painful some days, but it's the price one pays to get rid of creepy guys) and my book in my lap. I was late for class because I went back to get my book because I didn't want to share with him.

Oh my gosh, I'm changing my habits for him. That means I'm letting him control me. Oh geez. The dilemmas I find myself in. Well, I guess I could just sprawl as much as I want under that table. In fact, I could use him for a footrest. Then he couldn't possibly accuse me of playing footsie with him. Or I could say whatever I want to him. I could shout insults across the table, actually. Good plan. OH, speaking of shouting insults, one of the excercises we had to do in class was make up clean insults in Spanish. We were placed into teams, and of course, I was with Creepy Guy. So the first thing he says is, "It's going to be fun to make insults about you." He's acting like a deeply wounded ex. But he wasn't even a current, or a pre, or even a thought!! So I just smiled. Hey, hit me again, that feels good. Ah, that hit the spot.

Ok, I'm off, physics lab soon. This weekend is gonna ROCK. Who cares that I will sleep about zero hours. Not necessary. I wanna hold my baby. Ok, peace out. Haha.

Worrying = Useless Gray Hairs

Boo yah!! (no idea how to spell that but I gave it a shot)

Take that, statics test! Uh-huh, I definitely did NOT fail. I was guessing around a 70 on that one, but surprise surprise, I got an 89! Seems to be the score of the week. Except for physics, of course, heh heh. You know what I discovered? All of those times when I was super frustrated because I was the only one not understanding and I felt so stupid, a lot of the people were just faking. They copied homework so they were never worried about that while I was scrambling to try and get it done on time and correctly. All of that extra work on my part is paying off when it comes around to test-time, however. I'm so excited! It's great to discover that you are not mentally handicapped, lol.

Going home this weekend for a wedding and an interview. Yeah, my interview is at the butt-crack of dawn on Saturday. It's at 6:30 AM. Haha, that's great. I hope he doesn't care that I am going to look inhuman at that hour. I better get this job, dang it.

May 19th, where are you??!! Jori, I am so super psyched it's crazy!!

Bow To Her!

Bow to the queen of filth, putrescence! Oops, I meant just bow to the queen. That's me. Yup, I am amazing! I just got 4 points back on my calc test! That's an 89, folks! Almost an A, and with my grade in that class right now, I think my average is definitely an A. Oh yeah, and since my other test was a 90, the average between the two tests is an 89.5. So if he rounds, there ya go. I have an A. Woot! I felt bad though cuz I was upset with my grade and the people next to me got a 77 (on the left) and a 38 (on the right). Poor guys. But the one deserved it. He does jack-squat in and out of class. Ok, enough, I gotta go shower in the SRC because our hot water is still broken. I am not repeating the ice-cold Sunday morning experience!
