Sooooo Close....

Wanna see a lil piece of heaven? Here's my happy place:

Yeah, I love sleep. So I'm gonna go practice some more before my big test. Night!

Weirdos

Those last couple of comments were slightly disturbing.

Warning: the following excerpt from the daily life of Erin contains some questionably nerdy material. Unsuitable for anyone who isn't in touch with their inner nerd.

So, I had a meeting with my Japanese Society group today (I'll have another one later tonight). Anywho, we met in one of the group study rooms in the library. Usually we go into one of the downstairs ones, but this time they were all full, so we chose an upstairs room. The thing is, these rooms have no windows. So I commented that it felt like an interrogation room (no windows, white stone walls, a circular table with four chairs around it). Then I noticed there was writing on the walls, equations written in pencil. I pointed it out to my teammates...I mean it really looked like someone had been trapped in there a long time! So one of my team members, reading an equation off of the wall, said (dead-panned), "I have been here square root of x equals 2 minus x days now. I can't take it anymore." Man oh man, I cracked up.

Ok, maybe you ahd to be there. But it was funny. You should have heard him say it. My oh my. Ok, nerd story over. There were other funnies, but I shall spare you the gory details. Time to do some major work. I get off for break in 2 times 10 to the negative 18 times x equals 5 times e to the natural log of 2 times 10 to the negative 18 days. Really.

Testing, testing...

Snap.

Never mind.
Ok, so apparently I can add pictures. Just not the ones I want. These are random pics of Homecoming night with my vball girls in our new warm-ups. That is our traditional bonfire with an outhouse on top. If the outhouse falls through the middle, we will win the football game. If it falls off the edge, however, we will lose. Yeah, it definitely burned up and disintegrated before the platform it was on could burn up. We were left with a slightly ambiguous feeling as to the outcome of the game.

Alright, if I ever figure out how to do what I really wanted to show you, I'll let y'all know.

Peace.

"Good Morning, Turnaround!"

Woooooww. That came outta nowhere! I could hear the warbly little voice and everything. And he turned around, too. ;)

Soo....this week will be a long one. I have only one test this week, but three the next Monday and Tuesday, right before I get off for break. I really don't feel like studying yet. It seems like I just did that for finals. But I need to get off an a better foot than I did last quarter.

I have a Learning Center holiday party tomorrow as well as another intramural bball game. Woohoo! Maybe we will win this time. We played NSBE last time (National Society of Black Engineers) and we almost won! We only lost by 9 points and were almost tied at one point. We'll get somebody this year, hopefully.

Emily suggested that I put my Working Model and stuff that I am excited about on here...I am not sure how but I will try. Haha, Luke, you may have to show me how to do that. Especially since Working Model is an animated program.

Here goes nothing...

And nothing...

And sorry.

Here's an image of the animation. You can imagine the rest :~D

False. You will have to imagine it all. Because I cannot get images to upload. Period. Gaah!

"The best laid schemes o’ mice an’ men...

...Gang aft a-gley.” In case you didn't know, that's the original form of the saying we adapted from Robert Burns' poem "To a Mouse". Haha, I just liked the ending. It's much cooler than "often go awry". Why don't we talk like that? It would be fun!

Anyways, so here's the story...I didn't go to St. Louis this weekend. Nope, I'm here in my dorm room. Dan and Emily basically got snowed in up in GR, so I decided not to go (the rest of the people going were a bunch of goobers anyway). Well, I definitely didn't know them well enough to feel comfortable going alone with them. Make sense?

It was quite the bummer, but I am getting over it now. It was much worse when I first heard they couldn't come. Actually, I can look on the bright side: I am going to get ahead on my homework as long as I apply myself this weekend.

Good wishes and best of luck to all who are taking finals this upcoming week, including my sister Betsey and all of her Grace buddies. And to my sister Emily...CONGRATULATIONS!!!! You are DONE forEVER and you did soooooo great!! Also, I am not mad and am no longer devastated that you couldn't come. So don't worry about it.

St. Louis

Here we come! Emily, Dan, Dan's friend, and I are heading down to the St. Louis area tomorrow to explore, see a Blues game, and take a tour of Anheuser Busch. That's part of the package deal; we're really not heading down there just to see that. ;)

I did all my SWE stuff; it was fun, especially the lab. I really liked being able to show the girls how to work with some of the materials. I think a couple of them knew more than me, but there are always the smarties, ya know?

Got my homework done, miracle of miracles. :) I am sooooo glad it is the weekend!

Guess what, y'all? Once my check gets cashed, I am an official member of AIAA, or American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Rose is starting a chapter on campus, and I will be in the original group! It is exciting and fun and offers design competitions, a few scholarships, and connections for career opportunities in the future.

Alrighty, that about sums it up for now. I am a busy girl these days, which is good; I'm just attempting to fit sleep into the schedule a little more. I'll figger it out. Take care of yourselves out there; the snow's B E A yootiful, but it's kinda slick.

Dashing Through the Snow...

ON A ONE HORSE OPEN SLEEEEEIGH!!! O'ER THE FIELDS WE GO...LAUGHING ALL THE WAY (HAHAHA)!!!!

Ooh, what a great song!! Guys, I am absolutely giddy! And I don't know why, because I have a ginormic, hugantic homework assignment due tomorrow and a few smaller ones. But there is joy, joy, joy, joy, down in my heart! Wow, these songs are just bursting outta me.

It is snowing down here! "Walkin' in a winter wonderland!!" It's so pretty! Aah, it's a gorgeous day.

I have to go in about fifteen minutes to get ready for my SWE WEE girls to come (Society of Women Engineers, Women Exploring Engineering). It's that weekend, so I am registering them and then tomorrow I am working an electrical engineering lab in the AM. It's going to be fun! But between now and tomorrow at 2:30, I need to get seven Msys problems, two EChem problems, and a Fluids problem done. Good thing I'm done reading for JS and I got my DE assignment done two days early! Yikes.

I'm off...shoulda brought ski's down with me. 'Cept I don't own any. Off I go!

Twelve Days

Of classes. Three days of glorious weekends. And then I am home for break!!! Woot!

Ok, now isn't this stupid? I get off on a TUESDAY and come back on a TUESDAY. Grrr. Just give us three weeks off for break. That would make everything easier, plus it is more free time for me. I wouldn't complain.

So...I tried to start the car yesterday. At first it started, but then I backed a foot or two out of the parking space and it died. I tried to restart it, and it definitely was cranking, but it wouldn't catch and start. I even tried the gas pedal thing and managed to flood the engine. I think that is what happened, anyways, because I went in to get help and Bryan came out with me and the car started right up for him. But here's the bad news. As we were going back out to the car, I slipped on a patch of ice and keyed the car next to mine. Woohoo, ain't that just what the Rumley's needed right now? Anywho, I left a message on the car's windshield wipers. Hopefully nothing will come of it. The car wasn't super nice and the scratch was tiny. Still...arrrggg!!

Church tomorrow and a little bit of homework; but I am SO going shopping if the weather isn't too bad. I need to get some more Christmas gifts. And I need to workout (not connected with the shopping, unless of course you are speedwalking the mall with Emily).

Just watched Iron Chef. Oh man that show makes me hungry. Except for the raw trout ice cream. That sounded pretty disgusting. But it looked good. I'm practically an Iron Chef now myself. I have a pan!! I definitely cooked my first pizza today. Couldn't use my pan though. :(

"It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!"
