Last Blog Before Home

It's force of boom tomorrow at 8 AM, then "weesa goin' hooooome!".

Wow I am so psyched. Really. Jaymi is coming to pick me up, so we can par-tay real quick (ie eat lunch) and then head home. Woot!

So my resolution over break: WORK OUT!! I usually just go home and vegetate on a soft surface. Cain't afford it, folks, just cain't! I gotta stay on top of my game!

Coach was complimentary and I mean to keep it that way. Get ready, Betsey, it's volleyball time when I get home! Haha, I bet she's excited already. Well, I should hit the "el sack" so I can get up at the butt-crack of dawn tomorrow. Keep it real!

It's about that time

Bed is calling to me.

I just finished watching Finding Nemo, yes, I am studying hard. Haha, I have the shortest attention span ever, I swear. I feel pretty good about this calc exam though, so I'm not too worried.

Volleyball is so awesome! We had a two hour practice today, the first long one with almost the whole team there since volleyball season ended. It rocked! After break we get to start practicing 4-5 days a week again! I am so excited! It's such a stress-reliever and all-around good time to have volleyball at the end of a long day at Rose. True, it's not all roses, but I still love it.

A day and a half left! I still have to pack MOUNDS of stuff, but that can wait. I have other priorities, such as sleep and studying right now. Off I go (my niece is amazing! the new pictures rock!).

T-minus Two Days

AND COUNTING!!!!

A little calc studying now until vball (from 2 to 4) then more calc studying. Relax a little, go to bed, sleep until I wake up, more studying, calc final at 1, physics studying, go to bed, physics final at 8, then HOME AT NOON!!!!

Folks, quarter break is almost here! The birds are singing, the ground is thawing, and I am almost one-sixth of my way through college. Wow, almost past the second grade. Can you believe it? I love breaks, they keep me going.

New movies of my niece are out! Wow, she's the cutest niece ever! I can't wait to see her over quarter break. That also means I get to see Luke, Lacey, Emily, and Dan as well (the college clan up north - ok, not all of them are still in college, but close enough).

So my roomie and I definitely got to church this morning 45 minutes late! Who knew it started at 10, not 10:45? Oh well, we got the singing at the end and a good portion of the message. I like that church so far. Last Sunday I went with Amy Schnegg to a United Methodist church, but it wasn't as good in my opinion. Yay for an awesome roomie! Next quarter we are going to start doing a devotional together, which means she'll have to be here in the room sometimes, haha. I'm excited about that!

Everyone have a grand day; I'm sure going to! Woohoo!!

Hyo-Sun Kim

Somethin' like that. Wow! We might be getting a foreign exchange student! Her name is the title...it's kinda like ebonics if you think about it. I think I'll make her a nickname. Anyways, WOW, I never thought we would do this. She's an only child...haha, I wonder if she's ready for us.

Well, nothing's certain yet...shhh, keep it on the DL, ok? But I'm excited! It just means less sleeping space when I come home for holidays, but hey, I'm used to that. What's one more sister? I really do wonder if she's ready for us though...lol. Can you imagine? Coming from a one-kid environment into the home with Elyse, Zach, Betsey, Erin, Emily, Dan, Lacey, Luke, Grace, Mom, and Dad on holidays??!! But on normal days it would just be Mom, Dad, and the kids. So she could go gradually into it, right? Unless we all meet her at the airport. Haha, that would be fun!

Hey, maybe she has engineering friends in (what is it...Korea? China? uh, not sure) the "Orient". That would be a freakin' awesome internship!

Well, I probably wasn't supposed to say any of this, so I'll get back to studying stupid psychology now; oy, save me! Have a good night everyone! Hey, guess what? One Friday, one weekend, and two finals and I'M OUTTA HERE!!!!

We lost :(

Man! I thought we were going to make it, I really did, but we had just too much velocity to get a swish and just too little to bank it off the backboard. It kind of hit and dropped straight down. Dang it!

So we're done. There goes a quarter of work, down the drain! Hopefully the rest of our project will pull it out of the gutter. We were the first group to touch rim, but after us a bunch of groups made it, so we were eliminated. Snap!

Well, there it is. Now I am working a 3 1/4 hour shift at the LC and I have a feeling I am going to be very alone and very bored. They told me to be here from 5:45 till 9:00, and the night session doesn't even start until 7:00. So I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to do. Looks like I'll be studying for finals and my psychology test. Woohoo!

I took a nap today after I had done some calculus studying; I was out for a good hour. I didn't even hear Katie come in, which I usually do. Good thing the alarm was set or I would have missed work entirely.

Speaking of that, I had better get to it. Things are happening and people are coming and going even though they aren't getting help from me; I don't know what's going on. I shall go find out. Later!

COMP APPS PROJECT TODAY

Oy I'm nervous! The project is done, as much as we know how. I hope we win! I've tested it, we as a team have tested it, the webpage is up (check it out in the ME123 course materials page), and all we have to do now is wait for 1:30. Justin and I have to do it alone since Aaron is on a swimming away meet.

Plus I am practicing volleyball today, but it's just Amy, Coach, and me. Yikes! This should help my game tremendously though, so I'm both excited and nervous. Alright, well, it's about that time. Hope everyone's day is good; I think mine will be!

Get out get out get out!!

OH MY GOODNESS!! I have seriously never seen people so SLOW in my life!!

I just finished a calc project meeting. The darn thing could have taken a half hour total, and we ended up taking two stupid hours on it! The guys WOULD NOT LEAVE, and Jama left early, so any sane-ness was left to me. You know how that goes.

I was about to scream, especially since one of the guys was a self-proclaimed grammatical genius and he made a million mistakes that I had to correct; the other kept trying to change things that were JUST FINE. I can't take it! They kept talking down to me and I wanted to scream my English SAT scores at them and tell them to stick to the stuff they know, ie calculus.

And the tangents we got off on! Good grief, quit standing on my roomie's CLEAN bed with your DIRTY shoes and finish the project! Gross! Boys, who needs them?

One wouldn't stop talking about how he wanted three valentines, and how getting a valentine was one of his New Year's Resolutions. The other sat there and told me to go get stuff from the printer 3 floors down, even though it wasn't the final copy. I told him to edit it on the computer first, but he refused because he HAD to have a hard copy! So I told him to go get it. He finally got up out of MY chair (the guys had seats the whole time, ahh, the refreshing feeling of polite Rose guys) and took his lazy butt down to get it.

AAAAHHHH!! And I have TONS of other stuff to do!! So now I shall start doing it, now that we are FINALLY done. Arg, no more groups!!

Snap

What am I getting myself into again? Words just come out with no prompting from ME, the controller! I should just keep my mouth shut (and the world rejoiced). Dang.

Well, let's just get through this week and two days. All that involves, of course, are two projects, a test, and two finals as well as any random homework assignments crazy profs feel like throwing in there. No biggie, right? Just another week at Rose-Hulman.

Goal of the week: Learn to say "no".

I got a package, I got a package, I got a package hey hey hey hey!

WOW!!! I love Jori King!!

Not only did she send me a ridiculously expensive package out of her own accord, but she filled it with fabulous cookies of different flavors!!

Now I am going to ROCK this calc test! Bring it on, I've got no-bakes!

Thanks Jori, you're one-in-a-million!

Perfect Timing

Ta-daaaaa! That was a glorious sound with warm lighting filling the room. Cuz my day was just made better. I have another reason why I love college:

PACKAGES!!!!

It hasn't arrived yet, but it is in the mail. I love Jori King! Can't wait till it gets here!

My schedule the rest of this week and the next is PACKED, by golly. Starting at 5 this afternoon, and it probably won't end until at least midnight tonight, I will be studying. First a calc group meeting to finish a project, then dinner, then a physics review session in Scharp, then calc review in BSB with Jama, then my own comp apps review in my room. Woohoo! Good thing psychology didn't have a test this week, or I would be sunk!

But I'm excited, because I think I'm finally getting this calc stuff! Also, I ate breakfast and skipped lunch to sleep (got up at 6:30 to study), so now I'm completely wired. I guess I'm hungry, but I'm shaking and energetic and I can't stop talking when I'm with people. It's like a caffeine high, minus the caffeine.

Well, happy studying everyone! Emily, if you read this, I hope you do awesome on all the tests YOU have this week! I heard it's pretty beastly for you right now. I'll post later, time for a calc meeting!

Misc.

Wow, when I wax philosophical, it's rather depressing. Seriously, just ignore any posts that seem flowery or poetic. It's all dependent on the mood I'm in, and if you would rather not feel ten pounds heavier after reading them, take my advice and AVOID them!!

I actually made it to breakfast today. I've decided that is my favorite meal here. Now if they could just do something about the time they serve it....really though, the food in the morning is excellent. I usually get either a cheese omelette, sausage egg and cheese bagel, or french toast. But they also have grapes (yummm!!) and cereal. And their orange juice rocks too!!

The rest of the meals is where it gets kind of shaky.

So, my comp apps project is a LOT more massive than I thought. We have to have a group website that will be rather huge. I'm excited, but we really have to get on this or we'll never be done. I hope my partners are motivated. Well, I'm out, gotta "work" and stuff like that.

AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH

Boy, that felt good.

I don't know why I needed that, but I did. I got my homework done, I'm heading to bed kind of early, my day was pretty good. It's just this cage. This stupid cage!!

The bars look something like this: youth, college, freshman, quiet, displaced. I know they don't have to hold me back. But it's really hard to get by them. I have to strain to squeeze through, and the pain makes me want to crawl back into the "safety" of the cage. But then I'm stifling again. I have to get out! Ah, time. That's the biggest bar. If there were a way to fast forward...but then I would "miss the best part". Remind myself of that. Frequently. Haha, I have to enjoy this "best part". Silly me.

What I like about Rose:
1) when my roomie remembers me
2) when i hit the ball
3) when i get full credit on a quiz i thought i bombed

It's Superbowl Sunday!!!!

And the world rejoiced....yaaaaaay.

I'm super excited! Today I am going with my roomie to her bf's apartment to watch the Superbowl (aka the cpommercials) and Anchorman. Part-ay!!! It's gonna be a blast...heh heh, that's all if she remembers to pick me up!

So, funny story: I recently have been making my website, as most of you know. On the bottom of the homepage, I put a link stating, "write to tell me how awesome I am!" So today I check my email, and someone did. The little message box said "ur awesome". The email itself said something like "don't think I'm weird. u said to say ur awesome in ur website, so i did." AHHHH!! I looked up the guy's name. He's not in my comp apps class, but he is in another one. I guess he was just checking everyone's out, but still...CREEPY. So there's my story. And I'm stickin' to it.

Hay-lo!!

Well, my comp apps homework is done. Working Model finally decided to work, I guess. It was crashing randomly and the print function wasn't working. Which I discovered is suPOSEd to happen. I have to copy and paste into Word to get my model to print. Well that's done, yay! I find it fun, but it tends to be tedious as well since my comp apps class requires so much detail.

I need to get physics homework done and I need to study calculus, which means doing LOTS and LOTS of problems. Oh joy. I HAVE to understand this part of calc in order to bring my grade up.

Did everyone know I have a really smart older brother?? He's a good one. The part I liked best of his advice was that grades don't matter. ;) I liked that one. But really, he's right. Yes, I want to do well, but as my psych prof said "You know what they call an engineer who graduated at the bottom of his class? An engineer." That's right. So I need to relax and have some fun, not spend all my time on school. Like I'm in much danger of doing that. My big problem is getting out and doing things with people. Which is where the other part of Luke's advice comes in. He said to write about when I am glad to be at college or a good day I'm having at college. So I aim to do more of that from now on.

Let's start small. Three things I like about college:
1) My roomie. She's amazing, sporty, and NOT nerdy! Plus she goes to church with me on Sundays and gets me chips when I'm too lazy to get them myself. (even though she bought the one kind I can't stand, bbq...haha, serves me right for being lazy!)
2) My roomie's family (no that's NOT the same as #1). They sit by me at her basketball games, buy me gifts, and have proclaimed me their adoptive daughter! That's nice because they live closer to the Haute than my family.
3) Subway! It's on campus and it's free with meal exchange. Come on now! Hands up!

There it is. Ok, on to physics homework. I can get it done now, then when I work 8th hour I can check my answers (I work at the Learning Center). Bye!
